This module must be completed in semesters 1 and 2 (full time); it serves as preparation for the topic of the master thesis as well in particular as the exploration of a scientific topic for the essay in preparation for the Master’s Thesis (tbu). In the Profile Search, students are coached in independently working on an architectonic topic of their chose, taking particular account of the topics from the ateliers resp. from research and practice. This includes an introductory meeting, individual intermediary critiques (2 students and 2 coaches) as well as meetings in plenum together with the other participants in the module. In this connection, by analogy to workshop discussions, the interim state of the essays to be written will be presented and discussed. Compulsory attendance at all meetings (introduction, individual coachings and critics in plenum, pbu-tbu-meetings).

SUBMISSION

In Profile Search 1(Pbu 1: Survey) : Submission of an essay of approximately 20’000 characters, active participation and also written contributions (as part of the students’ essays) to the meetings.

In Profile Search 2 (Pbu 2: In-depth analysis) : Submission of an essay of approximately 30’000 characters.

The module is obligatory for JMA-students enrolled at Burgdorf, Profile Search 1 and 2 must be passed before students can begin thesis preparation.

ASSESSMENT

Compulsory attendance at all meetings (introduction, individual coachings and critics in plenum, pbu-tbu-meetings).
