Deserta Ecofolie by Pedro Ignacio Alonso and Pamela Prado, Venice 2025, Image: Rasmus HjortshøjThis course explores regenerative architecture through the design of a temporary pavilion for the Swiss Game Hub in Zurich-Oerlikon. Students investigate contemporary earth construction techniques, alongside timber construction, straw bale systems and natural fibre materials. Participants develop a circular, low-impact architectural proposal that responds to the site’s context, user needs and material availability. One project will be selected for completion by craft apprentices from Zurich in summer 2027.
The course combines short lectures by experts with case studies, a site visit and project-based learning. Students work on a real design challenge while receiving regular feedbacks from the teaching team and invited experts. The course concludes with a final presentation to project partners. The best project will be selected by students and lecturers and brought to life on-site in summer 2027.
Financial support for train ticket for site visit to Zurich Oerlikon can be provided.
